Last Saturday November 24th 2012 was Buy Nothing Day (UK). It's a day where you challenge yourself, your family and friends to detox from shopping for 24 hours. Can you spend a day without spending? Visit their website (http://www.buynothingday.co.uk/) and find out more, and please post your comments about this very interesting issue of consumerism and overspending, especially on this days before the upcoming Christmas season.

ResponderEliminarWhen I visit cities that have a shopping mall, I like to buy in it..but on the other hand, the idea of take care about the environment every day trying to buy in our local market is a great idea. Here in Teruel it´s easy because we haven´t malls. "By Nothing Day" is good to pay attention about the consumerism and its impact on the environment. And I think I can spend a day without spending...or not?
ResponderEliminarIt´s surprising! I have read that Buy Nothing Day was started en the 90´s. How it is possible that I haven´t heard about it before? I´m afraid mass media aren´t really interested in spread the new, as it isn´t good for their incomes.
ResponderEliminarI´m totally agree with this iniciative. We should have one Buy Nothing Day every couple of months in order to make people think about overspending. Sellers will get no money but they will have a day off.
