Time ago I received a witticism in my facebook account which stands less face and more [face in] books. We teachers keep up with what´s happening, social nets would be an useful way of acquisition of contents and skills. For instance, artists and students of arts can show their steps forward and make friends at the same time, fact that doesn't easily works in the realty. Our students are always demanding renewals but, personally, I'm not fond of using facebook in my lessons. Personally, I prefer ecucational CMS's platforms leaving "private" life alone.
